InnoPhyte Consulting supports the delivery of innovation programmes in regulated and complex systems by providing experienced Monitoring Officers to high-impact projects.
We are currently supporting opportunities linked to the Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), delivered by Innovate UK, and are keen to hear from individuals and organisations with relevant monitoring expertise.
About the Strategic Innovation Fund
The Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund supports innovation across the UK’s energy system and wider whole-system challenges, including:
- Electricity and gas networks
- Heat and transport
- Digitalisation, data and AI
- Cross-sector and whole-system innovation
There are three funding cycles per year, alongside additional opportunities for projects requiring enhanced monitoring input. Monitoring contracts may range from 6 months up to 5 years, depending on project scope.
The role of a Monitoring Officer
Monitoring Officers play a critical role in supporting SIF projects by:
- Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge
- Supporting effective project delivery and governance
- Reviewing progress, risks, and learning
- Engaging with project teams and funders
- Ensuring projects deliver value and impact
Who we’re looking for
We are keen to hear from Monitoring Officers, consultants, and subject-matter experts with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- GB energy networks, regulation, system operation, or infrastructure
- Engineering, digital technologies, data, AI, cybersecurity, or systems integration
- Commercial models, market development, or business case development
- Social science, consumer engagement, behavioural insights, or systems thinking
- Innovation delivery or regulated-sector programmes (e.g. energy, water, transport, telecoms)
Previous experience with Innovate UK programmes is beneficial but not essential. Support and onboarding are available.
